Getting Started

3classic uses the WordPress tools you already have. Begin with a theme ZIP, then give your site a name, a menu and a few useful sidebar items.

1. Install the theme

Download the installation ZIP. In WordPress, open Appearance → Themes → Add Theme → Upload Theme, choose the ZIP, and activate 3classic. For Multisite, install it in Network Admin and enable it for the intended subsite before activation.

2. Set the identity

Under Settings → General, enter your site title and a short description. The compact masthead displays the title. The description can still be used in other WordPress contexts.

3. Assign your menus

Open Appearance → Menus. Assign your main routes to Primary menu and the smaller set of utility links to Footer menu. Keep labels short. The primary menu also supplies the mobile navigation.

4. Arrange the sidebars and footer

Use Appearance → Widgets to edit Left sidebar, Right sidebar and the three footer columns. Add the publisher introduction, categories or recent posts. Replace all inherited demonstration text and images with your own material.

5. Publish your first entries

Use ordinary posts for the stream and pages for lasting information. Add a featured image when it helps introduce a story. Write an explicit excerpt to keep the homepage concise. Try an Aside for a small note and Standard for a longer article.

6. Check the whole site

Visit the homepage, a single post, a page, a category archive, search results and an unknown URL. Check mobile menus, images and footer links. Before updating an established site, keep a backup and the previous installation package.

For a reproducible theme issue, open a GitHub issue with the WordPress/PHP versions, screen width and steps to reproduce. Do not include passwords or private site data.
