Birds gives WordPress a more immediate way to be alive. It turns a conventional site into a readable stream for small, continuing conversations, while keeping the familiar strength of WordPress underneath.
The product idea
Early P2 showed that WordPress could feel like a shared conversation. Birds carries that instinct forward with a quieter, more deliberate surface: write something now, see it in context, and make room for a reply.
The result is closer to a well-made room than a busy social network. There is a feed, there are threads, and there is enough structure to help people return.
Three layers, one experience
- Birds Theme
- The visible product: feed-first home, readable threads, topic navigation, responsive templates, and a Classic Mac OS 9-inspired visual system.
- Birds Core
- The focused operation layer: front-end publishing and practical post and reply controls, using normal WordPress capabilities and nonces.
- WordPress Core
- The foundation that remains in charge: Posts, Comments, Users, Categories, Search, Archives, feeds, and administration.

A deliberate boundary
Birds does not pretend to be a complete social network. It does not introduce a custom database, a proprietary content model, or a collection of invisible engagement systems. Following, notifications, presence, and activity ranking can wait until a real site proves they are needed.
